RESEARCH FORUM ABOUT DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO AND ANGOLA

The aim of the Forum is to hold a meeting of academics and researchers dedicated to DR Congo
and Angola, discussing issues of common interest such as historical aspects of the relationship
between Congo and Angola, relations between the two countries, common regional threats,
exploitation of natural resources, latent armed conflicts/threats, perspectives for cooperation
and development, etc.
A day of open debate on the confluences and divergences between Angola and DR Congo.

Co-Convenants: Egmont-Institut Royal des Relations Internationales (Erik Kennes), Angola
Research Network (Rui Verde) and Afridesk (Jean Jacques Wondo).
The co-convenants of the Research Forum on the Democratic Republic of Congo and Angola
(Egmont-Institut Royal des Relations Internationales, Angola Research Network and Afridesk)
intend to hold an open, one-day scientific meeting, with a view to discussing issues common to
both countries (DRC and Angola), such as, historical aspects of the relationship between
Congo and Angola, common regional threats, exploitation of natural resources, latent
armed conflicts/threats, prospects for cooperation and development. Also, specific
subject as the crisis in Eastern Congo, recent elections in both countries, etc., could be
addressed.
Therefore, we make the Call for Papers here in the following terms:
SUBMISSION OF COMMUNICATION PROPOSALS AND DEADLINES
• We invite all interested parties to send a communication proposal.
• The proposal will include the title, a summary with a maximum of 250 words, and the
proponent’s biographical and curricular data, with a maximum of 250 words as well.
• Sending will be made to the address (rui.verde@area.ox.ac.uk) by April 10, 2024.
• Acceptance of proposals will be communicated by April 15, 2024.
• There is no need to pay to participate or watch the Forum
• The Forum will be held in person.
